All Day tour of the Peninsula

The weather was perfect today for a round-trip tour of the peninsula south of Cape Town. Upper right: some of the 12 Apostles that extend from Table Mtn to the southern tip.

Partway down the west coast, we stopped at Hout Bay to take a short boat ride out to an island covered with seals. The
harbor also had a lot of sailboats. (left)          From there, we drove to the Cape of Good Hope for a few pix (right and below right). I remember studying in history about Diaz and Vasco DeGama and their attempts to take ships around these points in bad storms.
Back to the van for more driving to Cape Point with the light house on top. We had a delicious lunch in a restaurant there, then took a funicular to the top and    back. (bottom right)

Our last stop was to see the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. The long boardwalk winds down through the hillside they nest in and then tothe beach where they return from their food- gathering missions. They are ADORABLE!
